because of,1.because of意為“因?yàn)椤⒂捎凇?，普通用語(yǔ)，比其他短語(yǔ)更口語(yǔ)化,強(qiáng)調(diào)因果關(guān)系；構(gòu)成的短語(yǔ)在句子中通常作狀語(yǔ)，一般不作表語(yǔ)；后面可接名詞、代詞、分詞或what引導(dǎo)的名詞性從句等。 Eg. Because of my bad leg ,I couldn’t walk so fast as the others.由于我的腿壞了，我不能像其他人走得那么快。 Because of his wife's being there,I said nothing about it. He realized that she was crying because of what he had said.他意識(shí)到，她在哭是因?yàn)樗f(shuō)的那些話(huà)。,2. because of, due to, owing to, on account of,和thanks to的用法比較: 這些都表示“由于“的意思，在使用時(shí)應(yīng)該注意以下區(qū)別: due to“由于，因……造成 ”，強(qiáng)調(diào)造成后果的原因，在句中作表語(yǔ)、狀語(yǔ)和定語(yǔ)。作表語(yǔ)和狀語(yǔ)時(shí)與owing to同義，作狀語(yǔ)時(shí)，一般不與其他成分隔開(kāi)，此時(shí)不用于句首。規(guī)范英語(yǔ)僅將 due to 用于動(dòng)詞be之后作表語(yǔ)，但普遍認(rèn)為可將due to看作是owing to的同義詞。 Eg. Accidents due to driving at high speed were very common that weekend.在那個(gè)周末因高速駕駛造成的交通事故很多。 This accident was due to（owing to）his careless driving．,3.on account of 當(dāng)“因?yàn)椤敝v，后面常接名詞。on account of與because of，owing to同義，但語(yǔ)氣較為正式。可作狀語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)，不作定語(yǔ)。如： He could not come on account of his illness． That was on account of lack of exercise．,4.owing to 與because of一樣也強(qiáng)調(diào)因果關(guān)系，在句中作狀語(yǔ)，做狀語(yǔ)時(shí)，習(xí)慣上用逗號(hào)和句子其他部分分開(kāi)。注意：作狀語(yǔ)時(shí)修飾整個(gè)句子，可在句首或句末，用逗號(hào)隔開(kāi)。owing to 除作狀語(yǔ)外，也可作表語(yǔ)，但 because of 不作表語(yǔ)。如： They decided to cancel the flight，owing to the storm．由于這場(chǎng)暴風(fēng)雨，他們決定取消這個(gè)航班。 His death was owing to an accident． Owing to his careless driving, we had a bad accident.由于他駕駛疏忽，我們發(fā)生了一次大車(chē)禍。,5.thanks to “由于或因?yàn)槟橙嘶蚰呈隆保ǔＳ糜诤玫姆矫?，多用于表達(dá)正面意思，相當(dāng)于感謝，有時(shí)可作“反語(yǔ)”。在句中作狀語(yǔ)和表語(yǔ)。引導(dǎo)的介詞短語(yǔ)可置于句首或句末。 The play succeeded thanks to your timely help.由于你的及時(shí)幫助，那出戲才成功。 It was thanks to his carelessness that we lost the game.由于他的疏忽大意我們輸?shù)袅诉@場(chǎng)比賽。,鞏固練習(xí): __________ his wife's being there,I said nothing about it.
