1、 Unit 5 Canada—“The True North” Period 3 Learning about language: Grammar 整體設(shè)計 教材分析 This is the third teaching period of this unit. To test whether students have grasped the important and difficult language points they learned in the last period, the teacher should first offer them some revis

2、ion exercises. Then lead in the new lesson. This teaching period mainly deals with the following: 1. Reviewing noun clauses as the subject; 2. Learning the new grammar item: noun clauses as the appositive. Students often feel noun clauses abstract and difficult to learn, so it is necessary to make

3、the lesson interesting and lively, and connect it with their daily life in order to let it easy to accept and understand. Firstly, the teacher can ask students to read the passage A TRIP ON “THE TRUE NORTH” again, tick out all the sentences from the passage where noun clauses are used as appositive,

4、 and then translate them into Chinese. Secondly, compare and discover the uses of each noun clause by giving a lot of example sentences. Thirdly, do the exercises in Discovering useful structures on Page 37 and more exercises for students to master the related noun clauses. Finally, summarize the us

5、e of noun clauses as appositive and let students make it clear how each noun clause is being used in the situations. At the end of the class, ask students to do the exercises in Using structures on Pages 71-72 and more additional exercises for consolidation. 教學(xué)重點 Get students to understand and us

17、ming up: noun clauses as the appositive. 同位語從句 在主從復(fù)合句中, 用作同位語的從句, 叫同位語從句。它一般跟在某些名詞(如fact, news, idea, truth, hope, problem, information, wish, promise, answer, evidence, report, explanation, suggestion, conclusion等)的后面, 用以說明或解釋前面的名詞。 1. 連接詞: 1)從屬連詞: that, whether等, 例如: The news that they had wo

18、n the game soon spread over the whole school. 他們比賽獲勝的消息很快傳遍了整個學(xué)校。 We’ll discuss the problem whether the sports meeting will be held on time. 我們將討論運動會是否會如期舉行的問題。 2)連接代詞: what, who等, 例如: Next comes the question what you want to put in the box. 其次就是這個問題: 你要在盒子里放些什么。 I have no idea who he is. 我不知

19、道他是誰。 3)連接副詞: how, when, why等, 例如: I have no impression how he came back, perhaps by bike. 我記不得他是怎樣回來的, 也許是騎自行車回來的。 I have no idea when he will be back. 我不知道他何時回來。 2. 同位語從句和定語從句的區(qū)別: 從形式上看, 同位語從句和定語從句很相似, 都放在某一名詞或代詞后面, 但同位語從句不同于定語從句。 1)同位語從句對名詞加以補充說明, 是名詞全部內(nèi)容的體現(xiàn); 定語從句說明先行詞的性質(zhì)與特征, 與先行詞是修飾與被修飾的

20、關(guān)系。例如: The news that our team has won is true. 我們隊獲勝的消息是真的。(同位語從句) The news that you heard is not true. 你聽到的消息不真實。(定語從句) 2)that在同位語從句中不擔(dān)任句子成分, 是從屬連詞; that在定語從句中擔(dān)任句子成分, 是關(guān)系代詞。例如: The fact that we succeeded pleased everybody. 我們成功了, 這一事實使大家很高興。(同位語從句) The fact that we talked about is very impo

21、rtant. 我們所談?wù)摰氖聦嵤欠浅V匾?。(定語從句) →Step 4 Grammar practice 1. Turn to Page 37. Ask students to do Exercise 2 in Discovering useful structures. First let them make their choices individually.
