Teaching steps:
Step 1. lead in
Show the word “birthday”, let Ss speak out some sentences or words about it .
“My favorite day of a year is my birth
3、day?”
“What about you ?” “Why”.
Step 2. listen and check.
1〉、“Tomorrow is Betty’s birthday. She and her friends are talking about it . Listen and check what people usually do on their birthday.”
2〉、Show the words: always. usually. often. never.
Phrases: get presents. Have a
4、 party.
Make a cake. Get a card.
(Give Ss a few minutes to get the meaning of them)
3〉、listen to the tape for two times. And check the answers in the class.
Step3.work in pairs
1〉、show the words .

2〉、let Ss make sentences using the words.
3〉、call some students to speak out their sentences in the class.
Step 4. Listen and read.
1〉、Give Ss some time to read the dialogue and finish the questions in actioity 5 .

2〉、Call back the answers from the whole dass. and ask students to correct the false sentences individually. then check w

3〉、Let students find out the difficulties in their groups. Call back them by teacher. then go through them together.
4〉、play the tape. and let Ss read after it .
5〉、Put students into groups of three to practice the dialogue .they should do it at least three times. Changing
8、roles.
6〉、call some students to read the dialogue in the class .Teacher corrects their mistakes in pronunciation.
Step 5. Practise.
Do the exercises in the paper. Then go through the answers in the class.
