Module 3 Life then and now Unit 2 I think life is better today. ◆ 教材分析 本模塊以“Life then and now”為話題,以學(xué)習(xí)談?wù)摻裣ι畹木薮髮e,介紹了中國在改革開放以來社會經(jīng)濟的長足進步。通過模塊學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)生將重點掌握比較級和最高級的用法和注意事項,并學(xué)會用英語比較描述多種相關(guān)現(xiàn)象,表達論證自身觀點。 ◆ 教學(xué)目標 【知識目標】 A. 單詞和短語: tiny electric light candle postman cold heat full-time role education transport; B. 英語論證自己的選擇和觀點。 【能力目標】 1. Reading for specific information. 2. Expressing views and opinions. 【情感目標】 Build up students’ patriotism. ◆ 教學(xué)重難點 ◆ 【教學(xué)重點】 Students make the clarification and argumentation of their own points of view. 【教學(xué)難點】 The application of discourse makers in the passage. ◆ 課前準備 ◆ 1.課前準備:調(diào)試光盤與課件、給學(xué)生分組、為學(xué)生布置預(yù)習(xí)作業(yè)等; 2.教具學(xué)具:光盤、大卡片等。 ◆ 教學(xué)過程 Step1. Words 1. Teach the new words and phrases in the lesson with the Chinese explanation and exact pronunciation. 2. Show the Chinese meanings to let student answer English correspondents. 3. Show pictures related to the difficult words and phrases to facilitate students’ perception. 4. Encourage students to make up English sentences with the new learned words. 5. Sum up the new words, phrases and sentence patterns. … and looking after us was more than a full-time job. Families have got smaller than they were in the past. 6. Game: word magic. Let students look at the words flashing forth and back in the slide. See which student can memorize the most numbers of words. Step2. Talking 1. Work in pairs. Discuss what you did in your childhood and list some of them. 2. Enjoy a video to see what your parents did when they were young. Step3. Learning 1. Look at the woman in the photo. How do you think she feels? Think about what she will talk about. 2. Read the passage and take notes on what Mrs. Li says about the points in Activity 1. 3. Talk about the photo. Say what life was like in the early 1980s and what life is like today. 4. Complete the notes and adds more points of our own. 5. Read the part – How has life changed? And finish the following exercises. 6. Work in pairs and talk about the advantages and disadvantages of life for Mrs. Li. 7. Complete the passage with the words and expression in the box. Step4. Language points 1. 這句話的主語是動名詞短語looking after us。單個v-ing形式短語在句中作主語時,謂語動詞要用單數(shù)。 句中more than表示“不只是,多于”。 2. what’s more表示遞進,“然而/還有…… ”的意思,獨立使用,既可以放句首,也可以放句中,what’s more后面加逗號。 3. generally speaking表示“一般而言,總的說來”。in general也可以表達同樣的意思。 4. get married意為“結(jié)婚”,表示短暫行為,不能與表示一段時間的狀語連用。表示結(jié)婚多長時間,要用be married。 Step5. Writing 1. Write a passage about the advantages and disadvantages of life today. 2. Choose two or three points from the notes in Activity 2 to write about. 3. Give examples or reasons to support those points. 4. For each of the points you choose, write about an advantage and/or a disadvantage. Use the words however, but, although or used to where appropriate. 5. Finish the passage with the conclusion. 6. Present outstanding passage to the class. Step6. Summary 1. Summarize the new learned phrases and sentence patterns. 2. Let students spend 2 minutes testing their vocabulary through the bilateral translation between English and Chinese. 3. When finished, exchange papers to see who does the best. Step7. Practice 1. 用方框內(nèi)所給單詞的恰當形式填空。 2. 根據(jù)提示翻譯句子。 Step8.
