I used to be a critical person and tried to find faults. I guess I somehow inherited this character from my father. Actually many good qualities of my father are worth admiring except this. My father is the person who constantly looks for mistakes in other people and he thinks no one is perfect in the world. His character created a negative atmosphere in my family. I was the same as my father, so I often felt angry, disappointed, depressed, and lonely in school. After I had read my favorite book I began to seek “good things” in other people. It has pletely altered my life. Now I feel happier, I have more friends, I have more trust in people, and I realize everyone has their own strength! Another important lesson I got from this book is that I should always behave myself in a positive manner. Lets admit that we sometimes plain about our situation. Thats not good. “Believe it or not, people dont like to listen to negative opinions.” One more valuable lesson I got from the book is that I should be a good listener. When I was younger, I only wanted people to pay whole attention to my words so that I could show them how important I was. I was very proud and would show off my achievements in school without considering others feelings. I had very few friends and most people considered me as an arrogant person. You may have an energy drink, but the benefits of drinking one are heavily outweighed by the risks. In the past years, more and more studies have found the deadly effects of energy drinks on your bodies. The sugar, caffeine and energy supplements (添加物) in energy drinks make up a deadly mixture of ingredients that can affect your heart function and send you to the hospital! A study by the University of Bonn, Germany found that frequent consumption of energy drinks can greatly change the way your heart functions. The study went on to say that consuming energy drinks often causes significantly increased heart contractions (收縮) in adults, which has the potential of putting you at risk of irregular heartbeats. It is possible that many people are unaware of the alarming side effects of energy drinks because of the way they are labelled. Most energy drinks contain between 80 milligrams to over 350 milligrams of caffeine, sugar and energy supplements. When an energy drink is marketed as a diet supplement it may be distributed without a “nutrition facts” label, which would show the harmful supplements that are in the drink. However, even if energy drinks are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, they dont have to show the number of supplements. Energy drinks may be widely available but they arent the healthiest or safest choice for your body. Stay naturally energized, get organized and stay on top of your work so that you dont have to stay up all night to plete assigned tasks. If youd like a natural energy boost, you could make time for a short workout, which will give you all of the energy you need! 語(yǔ)篇解讀:本文是一篇議論文,主要論述了能量飲料帶給人們的害處大于益處。 8. A.Because the harmful materials are not labelled. B.Because FDA thinks they are healthy drinks. C.Because they dont read the label carefully. D.Because factories of energy drinks lie to drinkers. 解析:選A 細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第四段第一句可知,人們沒(méi)有意識(shí)到能量飲料的副作用的原因是有害物質(zhì)沒(méi)有被標(biāo)明。 10.What is the last paragraph mainly about? A recent university study found that current electric cars could be used for 87 per cent of daily car journeys in the US. That figure could rise to 98 per cent by 2020. One hurdle to the widespread adoption of electric cars has been “range anxiety” — drivers concerns about running out of juice on a journey. While petrol stations are conveniently located across national road systems, the necessary network of electric charging stations is still being developed. That said, charging points are being increasingly mon throughout the USA. Attitudes towards electric vehicles have changed quite considerably over the last few years. Not that long ago, electric cars were met with distrust, and their large price tags drove customers away. Thanks to improvements in battery capacity, recharging times, performance and price, the current generation of electric cars is starting to persuade critics. Plugin cars will soon give internal bustion engine models a run for their money. As well as advancements on the road, electric vehicles are taking to the seas and skies. Electric boats are among the oldest methods of electric travel, having enjoyed several decades of popularity from the late 19th to the early 20th century before petrolpowered outboard motors took over. Now, the global drive for renewable energy sources is bringing electric boats back. Steps towards electric air travel are also being made, with Airbus and NASA among the organizations developing and testing battery powered planes. The experiments could soon make mercial electric flight a reality. Electric vehicles do not produce any emissions. Were the US to act on the studys findings and replace 87 per cent of its cars with electric vehicles, it would reduce the national demand for petrol by 61 per cent. However, because of the production processes and the generation of electricity required to charge these vehicles, they cannot claim to be pletely emissionfree. That said, as many countries continue to increase their use of renewable energy sources, electric vehicles will bee even cleaner. 語(yǔ)篇解讀:本文是一篇說(shuō)明文,主要介紹了汽油和柴油車(chē)將逐步被電動(dòng)汽車(chē)代替以及電動(dòng)交通工具在未來(lái)的發(fā)展。 12.Which is the best title for this passage?
