Type: New material Teaching methods: Functional Approach (municative Approach) Teaching Aids: recorder cards pictures Teaching course: Step One Preparation Activity 1. The teacher draw a big sun (1) on the board. Then says “It’s sunny and warm.”(show red line under the adj.).Repeat the sentences three times. Draw other pictures. Repeat them one by one.(these pictures must be shown on the board.). Explain “dry” means. 2. Point to the different pictures and say: What’s the weather like? It’s sunny. (It’s…) Get the Ss to repeat several times. They can learn the new words rightly. Use some cards(sunny raining windy…). (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) 3. Tell the Ss that the teacher is going to say the “weather”. They have to say the correct pictures. 4. Show the new words. Then the Ss look at the new words and say ‘weather.’ Then change . Group1: What’s the weather like? Group2: It’s raining. Do lots of practice like this. Step Two Listen and look then repeat 1. using a board to show these sentences. It’s sunny and warm.(cold and wet; raining and windy; snowing and cold; cold and dry…) 2. Let the Ss close their books and play the tape, let them listen to each dialogue and tell the teacher that what the weather is like by looking at the 5 possibilities on the board. 3. play each dialogue twice and then see if the Ss can tell the teacher the weather conditions.(using the pictures) Then talk about the real-life task. 4. Ss open their books. Play the tape and follow in their books. Let them repeat. Play the dialogue line by line. Step Three Pronunciation 1. Let the Ss close their books. Then play the tape and have to repeat the sentences. 2. Get different groups to repeat.(First row right row left row middle, boys and girls) 3. Show these pictures to help Ss practice(P90) SA: What’s the weather like? SB: It’s cloudy. Step Four Everyday English 1. Ss learn mon phrases that English speakers use all the time, then let Ss read the phrases. Play the tape and follow. What’s the weather like today? It’s a lovely day. It’s sunny. Let’s go to the park. What a lovely day!(What a +adj. Day!)(Do some substitution work with the sentences) What’s it like outside /inside? It’s cold. Let’s stay inside and watch TV. How’s the weather? It’s cold. Put your jacket on.(wear a jacket) What’s the weather like today?(truth answers) Take an umbrella with you. Because it’s raining. Can I (we)go out (outside)? All right.(Yes, all right.) Step Five Match the pictures to the descriptions 1. Activity On large pieces of paper draw pictures to represent the different weather conditions. You can use the pictures in the book to help you. 2. Place the pictures on the walls around the class. Tell the Ss you use “What’s the weather like? It’s… What a rainy day!” SA: point to the picture SB: Raining (rainy) SC: What’s the weather like today? SD: It’s raining (rainy). SE: What a rainy day!- 配套講稿:
