The legs did have a tendency to get stuck between one’s teeth, however. What’s more, I am sure scorpion stung(螫傷)me twice with its tail in revenge. ” Next came snake: “A bit like a cross between fish and chicken, with a slightly rubbery texture(彈性口感)and meaty taste. ” Some people were actually angry when I ate turtle soup—especially when I posted pictures showing the poor little guy’s head staring sadly up at us from the bowl. “I am never speaking to you again, ”wrote one(former)friend. Instead, realize that the seeds of success were planted within you when you were born. Only you have the power to make those seeds grow. The seeds, and the power to grow them, are contained in the most awesome machine ever created: the human mind. Success is a choice and not a chance. You were born a winner. You were born rich. You can be a success if only you make the right choice. You cannot be successful without first developing your self-esteem. Your level of self-esteem is always based on the degree of control that you are able to exercise over yourself, and thus over your life. People with low self-esteem are people who do not believe that they have any power, or responsibility for their lives. They are the perennial(長期的)victims and martyrs. They are leaves tossed(搖擺)by the winds of chance blown about with any sudden change in the weather. You can exercise control over your life only to the degree that you believe that you are responsible for everything that happens in your life. Failures think that everything happens by accident. Successful people realize that they are responsible. Everything happens as a result of something. If we can identify the cause, we can control the effect. We are responsible for what we choose to think and believe. One generally rises to the level that one expects. We are responsible for setting our expectations. Our success is dependent upon our level of confidence. If you associate with positive thinking people, you are definitely going to achieve success. On the contrary, the opposite happens. We are responsible for finding, planting, and nurturing the seeds that contain future victory, born from setbacks. In short, in all areas of your life, whether they are financial, physical, emotional, or spiritual, you are responsible. Once you recognize this, accept it, and firmly believe it, you are on the road to success. 25. In many Chinese cities especially in the big cities, the speed of rising in price of housing is rapid and surprising. The price of housing has deviated the ine level of many mon people seriously. It is awkward that a mon person can not afford a mon flat in our country. What reasons have led to the appearance mentioned above on earth? In my opinion, there are 3 main and essential reasons for it. First of all, the price of the land, which has changed higher and higher in recent years, is the most important factor. We know, the real estate includes 2 parts: the land and the housing. The price of the real estate includes the land and the housing price. Now more and more governments depend on selling the land to keep their ine. The main way of land sale is auction(拍賣), so that it can pay more money to the government. The expensive land increases the cost of the housing, and certainly the cost will shift to the consumers at last. Secondly, there is much more foam position(泡沫)acpanied with the economy of the real estate. At present, more and more people need purchase a new flat, which shows there is a good market future on the real estate. Economist calls it is“Selling party market”. Therefore, many businessmen of the estate business unite to form an alliance which can control the market as a puppet. Consequently, housing rises in price of the real estate often happened instead of normally, regularly. Thirdly, the government is short of the function that it should have. It was a pity that only few people had enjoyed the preferential housing in the past 10 years. More people had to choose the expensive mercial housing. The government neglected its duty. The government should be partly in charge of the price of housing. In a word, the reasons that influence the price of housing are plex. But a simple fact is obvious that Chinese government must attach responsibility to the higher and higher price of housing. 29. The passage is mainly about . But last week a report said that there are no more than 30 wild tigers left in South China. This was the conclusion of a team of scientists from China’s State Forestry Administration and the World Nature Fund. The South China tiger, also known as the Chinese tiger, is native to southern China. In the 1950’s, there were over 4, 000 tigers found in mountain forests in the country. But due to the destruction of their natural habitat and uncontrolled hunting, it has been pushed on to the list of the world’s top ten most endangered species. Sixty-six of the big cats can be found in the cages of a dozen zoos around China. But they are nothing like their wild cousins. They have lost their natural skills such as hunting and killing. If they were set free they could not look after themselves. “Breeding has damaged the quality of the species, ”said Pei Enle, deputy director of the Shanghai Zoo. To reintroduce the species into the wild, the country started a programme to send five to ten young tigers to South Africa. Four of them have already arrived. Progress has been made as two elder tigers have recovered some of their instincts(本能)and can hunt wild animals by themselves at the African base. “South Africans are very experienced in reintroducing big animals to the wild. The country has very good natural conditions for the tigers to learn in, ”said Lu Jun, office director of the National Wildlife Research and Development Center. “We tried in Fujian Province, but it was not successful as there was not a plete eco-chain(生物鏈)and there was a lack of space. ”The tigers should return to China when the reservations in Fujian are ready. 33. What is the main reason for the South China tiger being one of the world’s top ten most endangered species? A. Because it has lost its natural instincts. B. Because there is not a plete eco-chain. C. Because there is no space for it. D. Because uncontrolled hunting has destroyed its natural living conditions. 題干關(guān)鍵詞為: the world’s top ten most endangered species。第三段中的“But due to the destruction of their natural habitat and uncontrolled hunting”告訴我們?nèi)A南虎成為十大瀕臨滅絕物種之一的原因。 34. A. they are no longer feared by other wild animals B. they don’t know how to hunt or kill C. a plete change has resulted in the species because of breeding D. to reintroduce them into the wild has bee an urgent task 【解析】選B。 They have lost their natural skills such as h- 1.
