Born in Transkei, South Africa on July 18, 1918, Mandela was sentenced to five years labor for encouraging violence against anti-black laws in 1962.,Two years later, he was sentenced to prison for life for being one of the ANC leaders, but after being released from prison in 1990, he continued to make efforts to achieve the dream of making black and white people equal. Owing to his great work, not only did he win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, but he was also elected (as) President of South Africa a year later.
