One needs a BA in education and then a special education certificate(證書) such as a certificate in learning disabilities, emotional disabilities or cross categories which means covering all the subjects.A certified new special educate teacher needs to shadow a current special education teacher for at least, a year because there is that much to know and practice. Working with the students is the biggest reward. However, the paperwork is huge with requesting more year after year.If you are good at doing about ten things at the same time, then you may be the right person for the job. No day is the same. Parent and government expectations are high. A sense of empathy(the ability of feeling and sharing another person’s feelings) and one hundred percent prepared to help your students is important. Also, if you are a special education teacher working in the high school, it is your job to make sure your special education students are able to be employed after they graduate, and then the special education teacher needs to stay in touch with the special students a year after they graduate to make sure they are employed and can support themselves. Education is a very political field next to working in politics. One needs to know what to say, when to say it and make sure it is a benefit for everyone involved. It is a mixture of knowing medical diagnosis and teaching with that in mind. Your record needs to be perfect, and it would also help to be a very strong Christian(天主教徒)because you will need to pray often to yourself. This position is not about the money but more of a service. 56.To become a special teacher, one needs . A.a(chǎn) MA decree and a certificate B.a(chǎn) degree and three certificates C.a(chǎn) degree and two certificates D.a(chǎn) degree in education and a certificate 57.The underlined word "shadow" can probably be replaced by . A.make friends with B.study together with C.get along well with D.learn from 58.Which of the following will NOT help to become a special teacher? A.faith in God B.related training and education C.interest in politics . D.skills in communication 59.Which of the statement is NOT true about the author____. A.He is a certified special education teacher B.He enjoys working with disabled teenagers C.He used to do large amounts of paperwork D.He tries to encourage people to become special teachers B No one knows for certain why people dream, but some dreams might be connected to the mental processes that help us learn. In a recent study, scientists found a connection between nap-time (午睡時(shí)間) dreams and better memory in people who were learning a new skill. “I was astonished by this finding,” Robert Stickgold told Science News. He is a cognitive neuroscientist at Harvard Medical School who worked on the study of-how the brain and nervous system work, and cognitive studies look at how people learn and reason. So a cognitive neuroscientist may study the brain processes that help people learn. In the study, 99 college students between the ages of 18 and 30 each spent an hour on a computer, trying to get through a virtual maze (虛擬迷宮). The maze was difficult, and the study participants had to start in a different place each time they tried - making it even more difficult. They were also told to find a particular picture of a tree and remember where it was. For the first 90 minutes of a five-hour break, half of the participants stayed awake and half were told to take a short nap. Participants who stayed awake were asked to describe their thoughts. Participants who took a nap were asked about their dreams before sleep and after steep - and they were awakened within a minute of sleep to describe their dreams. About a dozen of the 50 people who slept said their dreams were connected to the maze. Some dreamed about the music that had been playing when they were working; others said they dreamed about seeing people in the maze. When these people tried the computer maze again, they were generally able to find the tree faster than before their naps. However, people who had other dreams, or people who didnt take a nap, didnt show the same improvement. Stickgold suggests the dream itself doesnt help a person learn - its the other way around. 60.It is a cognitive scientists job to study_________ . A.how people dream and learn C.the structure of the nervous system B.whether someone is reasonable D.the process of understanding 61.The purpose of the study college by 99 college students is to . A.find the hidden tree in the maze B.test the design of a difficult virtual maze C.train peoples memory D.see how dreams and learning are connected 62.The better performance in working out the maze is connected with . A.how people dream B.what people dream C.when people dream D.where people dream 63.The writer will probably continue to talk about in the 6th paragraph. A.how learning process caused the dream B.how a dream helps a person learn C.how dreams and learning influence each other D.how to improve peoples memory C “Image is everything.” An entire industry has been built upon the assumption that image is everything, but when it comes down to it, an appealing image is not enough. If there is no substance(事實(shí)) behind the image, the product, service or person will fail eventually. First of all, one should consider how important image is in the selling of products and services. Advertising agencies have raised the art of creating an image to a state of near perfection. Public concept of that product or service is certainly managed by the images created by the advertising agencies. But if the product or service does not live up to the image that was created, the customer will be very dissatisfied and possibly ask for their money back. For example, the Arthur Andersen accounting firm had spent decades building up an image of trustworthiness. But the recent scandal (丑聞) showed that behind that image, it cheated in business practices. Despite the previous positive image, the firm is being accused of criminal actions and it will probably not survive as a business unit. Although the image had been nearly perfect, the reality behind the image has led to the downfall of the world famous accounting firm. Similarly, personal advisers can build up a public image for politicians and movie stars. Putting out positive news releases, making sure that only the best photographs are published, and ensuring that the person is seen in all the right places can build up a very positive image in the view of the general commons. But once again, history is filled with examples of both politicians and movie stars that fell from grace like the story of the Hollywood actor giving in to the pressures of fame and fortune. With people, just as with products and services, image is certainly important, but without positive substance behind the image, failure is close. To summarize, it is clear that an appealing image is extremely important to success, whether that image is related to selling a product or service or to the “selling” of a person. But image is only half of the equation. What lies behind that image is every bit as important as the image itself —— the person or product must deliver on that image or there is little chance for long-term success. 64.The downfall of the Arthur Andersen accounting firm is due to ________. A. its dishonesty in business B. its previous images C. its bad management D. its poor service 65.Why did some famous people fall from grace? A. Their images were not well built up B. They failed to live up to their images. C. They felt much pressure from the public D. They paid little attention to fame and fortune. 66.The structure of the passage is ________. A: Argument P: Point C: Conclusion D Warning: reading too much Cinderella(灰姑娘) to your daughter may damage her emotional health in later life. A paper to be developed at the international congress of cognitive psychotherapy(認(rèn)知心理療法) in Gothenburg suggests a link between the attitudes of women abused(虐待) by their parents and early exposure to the wrong sort of fairy tales. It says girls who identified with Cinderella, Rapunzel(萵苣女孩) and Beauty in Beauty and the Beast were more likely to stay in destructive relationships as adults. The theory was developed by Susan Darker Smith, a psychotherapist at the University of Derby. She interviewed 67 female abuse survivors and found that 61 put up with severe abuse because they believed they could change their partners with patience, composition and love. The same view was taken by male survivors who had been abused as children. Hardly any of the women in a control group, who had not experienced abuse, thought they could change their partners in this way. The same view was taken by male survivors who had been abused as children. These women and men said they would leave a relationship rather than put up with abuse from a partner. Ms Darker Smith found the abused women were much more likely to identify with Cinderella and other submissive female characters in fairytales, who were later rescued by a stranger prince or hero. Although most girls heard the stories, damage appeared to be done to those who adopted the characters as role models. “They believe if their love is strong enough they can change their parents’ behaviors,” she said.” Overexposure in children to stories that emphasize the transformational qualities of love may make women believe they can change their partners.” For example, they might never have understood the obvious flaw in the story of Rapunzel, who remained locked in a high tower until rescued by a knight on a white horse, who broke the door down. “The question,” said Ms Darker Smith, “is why she did not break the door down herself.” 67.The passage is especially intended for _________. A.parents with young daughters B.girls who like reading fairy stories C.girls who think they can change their partners D.parents with grown-up daughters 68.Cinderella, Rapunzel and Beauty in Beauty and the Beast are similar in that _________. D.They survived abuse. 70.What does the underlined word “submissive” in the 3rd paragraph probably mean? Have your favorite meal and stay quiet after that? 71 But it never lets you know, because you keep it busy thinking about your friends or favorite stars. So it silently serves your needs and never lets itself grow. When mind loses its freedom to grow, creativity sets a full stop. This might be the reason why we all sometimes think “ What happens next?” or “ Why can’t I think?” 72 Why reading but not watching TV? It is because reading has been the most educative tool used by us right from childhood. Since it develops other aspects of our life, we have to take help from reading. When you read a book, of course you run your eyes through the lines and your mind tries to explain something to you. 73 Now this seed is unknowingly used by you to develop new ideas. If it is used many times, the same seed can give you great help to relate a lot of things, which you would have never thought of in your wildest dreams! This is nothing but creativity. 74 Within no time you can start talking with your friends in English or any other language and never run out of the right words. So, friends, do give food to your thoughts by reading, reading and more reading. 75 Go and get a book! A. The interesting part of the book is stored in your mind as a seed. B. Why not do some reading while you are hungry? C. Just like your stomach, your mind is also hungry. D. Now what are you waiting for? E. Hunger of the mind can be actually solved through wide reading F. Reading can help you make more friends, too. G.
