From this point of view，America is very much like a salad bowl where individual ethnic groups mix together，yet maintain their cultural uniqueness.People may work together during the day at similar jobs and in the same companies，but at night they may return to their ethnic groups where their own individual culture directs their way of life. 2 Each ethnic group has its own special customs，language，food and traditions to protect and defend.This idea of the salad bowl is referred to as cultural diversity；that is，American society is a collection of various cultures living together in harmony within one country. 3 Here，society is like one large pot of soup.All cultural aspects are mixed together，sacrificing their original identity and keeping a bit of what they were to become a new reality.The longer the soup is cooked，the better the taste and the more likely it will be for the mixture to dissolve.In this sense，America can surely be seen as a melting pot where people from all over the world come to live and work together forming one nation. There are dozens of shared symbols. 4 In such a culture，symbols like the flag and the nation’s official song serve to break down the walls which separate ethnic groups. For a thirdculture kid，it is often easier to move to a new foreign country than to return to their “home” country.After living in Australia and South Korea for many years，Louis finally returned to Turkey as a teenager.But she felt out of place when she returned to the country where she was born. 14 She did not share the same values as her friends’ even years after going back home. While a thirdculture kid must let go of their identity as foreigner when he/she returns，the home country can prove to be more foreign than anything he/she came across before.The peer group they face does not match the idealized image children have of “home”． 15 As a part of the growing “culture”，TCKs may find it a great challenge for them to feel at home in many places. Sit upright in a comfortable chair. 17 Cup your hands so that there is no pressure on your eyes.Let your fingers rest across your forehead.There should be no light entering your eyes.Palming(手掌按摩) should be done for a period of 5 to 10 minutes to start.Palming should be relaxing.It may help to do palming in a darkened room. 18 It will unpleasantly affect your eyesight，which affects the eyes by producing a larger amount of insulin(胰島素) in the blood.Therefore you shouldn’t be having much fruit juice or something that contains a lot of sugar. The only exercise most eyes get is that daily rubbing we give them when we’re tired or suffering from eyestrain.But eye exercises are actually good for your eyes and can improve your vision. 19 Blink as fast as you can for a few seconds then close your eyes tightly，open and repeat.Do this exercise 3 to 4 times daily. You probably hear that statement all the time but eating the right foods are necessary to good health. 20 Foods that are high in fiber，vitamin C，D and beta carotene as well as other vitamins and minerals can help improve your vision.Here are a few foods that can be beneficial to good vision：carrots，eggs，blueberries，spinach，kale，grapes，and fresh garlic.
