Pelé was born in a small village in Brazil.So

2、ccer is the most popular sport in Brazil,and like most other children of his age,Pelé grew up playing soccer. Too poor to afford a soccer ball,Pelé and his playmates often made one by tying together a bunch of rags.Their playing field was usually a sidewalk.Old tin cans (錫罐)marked where the goalpos

3、ts should be.Pelé and the other boys from his neighborhood often dreamed of one day becoming professional soccer players.At the age of eleven,Pelé was discovered by Waldemar de Brito,a former professional player.De Brito was then coach of the Bauru Soccer Club.He signed Pelé to play for the junior B

4、auru team. In 1956,when Pelé was fifteen,de Brito took him to the city of Santos,Brazil,to try out for the Santos professional team.Pelé immediately distinguished himself as one of the best players. In 1957,Pelé was selected (挑選)to play on Brazil' s national team.He scored the only goal for Brazil

5、 in the first game and another goal in the second game.Then in 1958,Pelé helped Brazil win its first World Cup. Between 1958 and 1970,Pelé played in four World Cups.He is the only person to have played on three winning World Cup teams.Pelé played his last game with the Brazilian national team in 19

6、71,but he continued to play for the Santos team for three more years before calling it quits. Throughout his career,Pelé had an amazing ability to move people.Everybody wanted to see him play.In 1969,a war in Nigeria was stopped for two days because the Santos team had been invited to play there an

7、d people on both sides were so eager to see Pelé play. Pelé's name has become synonymous(同義的)with excellence in soccer.His 20-year career has yielded some of the most memorable moments in soccer history.People today still refer to him as the great Pelé,the King of Soccer. 【語篇解讀】 本文是記敘文。文章主要介紹了“球王”

16、ioned an earlier finding that Holocaust survivors have higher levels of methyl groups bound to the FKBP5 gene and have passed this change on to their children.This higher level of methyl groups appears to change the production of cortisol,a hormone (荷爾蒙)that controls the stress response. “The Finni

The NTT report says cybersecurity requires much more than a technological fix.New security software cannot keep up with growing threats.The key solution is for people to b

27、e prepared and to work together. “To successfully work their way around these challenges,” the report states,“organizations are going to be required to rely on their users more than ever.” This includes such steps as keeping software up to date with security patches,using complex passwords,and watc

28、hing for potential cyberattacks in e-mail and texts.A similar recommendation was offered last December by the US Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity. To assist digital users,the commission called for a private body to develop something like a “nutritional label (標(biāo)簽)” for technology produ

29、cts.Such a fair,third-party assessment would help consumers better use cyber tools and curb wide-ranging harmful activity in cyberspace. The NTT report makes one other and necessary point about the role of cyber experts in assisting computer users: “Our end goal is not to create fear,uncertainty,an
