Got big plans for Friday night? That’s OK, we don’t either. Guess we’ll all have to make do by watching the celestial(天空的) show that will take place that night. First, there will be a full moon. That’s always fun, but this one will be a little more special. It’s known as a “snow moon”. The name es from the fact that the heaviest snows usually fall during February, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac. But if that’s not special enough, there’s also an eclipse(月食) that night. It’ll be a penumbral lunar eclipse, meaning it’s a partial eclipse that leaves sections of the moon darkened by the earth’s shadow. No, it won’t be as spectacular as those “blood moon” eclipses. It’ll be subtler. The level of darkness it reaches during the eclipse may or may not be apparent;it just depends on where you are when you view it. In North America, the eclipse begins at 5:34 p.m. ET and ends at 9:53 p.m. ET, according to the astronomy website EarthSky. The eclipse will be at its height around 7:44 p.m. ET. If that’s still not enough, let’s throw in a et(彗星) to the night’s festivities. et 45P (it has a much longer name, but we won’t burden you with it here) is visible as it flies by the earth. The et will get within 7.4 million miles of the planet as it makes its closest approach this weekend, according to Universe Today. et 45P will be most visible a couple of hours after the eclipse, so look to the skies again around 3 a.m. ET Saturday and find the greenishblue light with a tail. And don’t forget, a total bigtime solar eclipse will streak across the United States on August 21st. 1.According to the text, what can be viewed on Friday night? A.A blood moon. B.A total solar eclipse. C.A partial lunar eclipse. D.A et without a tail. 2.If you want to see et 45P, you will need to . A.wait around 7:44 p.m. ET B.stay up until 9:53 p.m. ET C.wake up before 3:00 a.m. ET D.start watching at 5:34 p.m. 根據(jù)倒數(shù)第二段中的“so look to the skies again around 3 a.m.ET Saturday”可知,要想看到45P彗星,你需要在凌晨三點(diǎn)之前起床。 3.The author writes the text with the purpose of . A.introducing basic astronomy to the media B.sharing new discoveries with astronomy researchers C.promoting astronomical events among science students D.informing average readers of recent celestial phenomena D 解析:寫(xiě)作意圖題。 When my father was a boy, he had a dog named Laddie. Laddie stayed __1__ (constant) by Dads side—fishing, playing ball, and even __2__ (follow) him to school. Laddie would simply follow Dads smell and track him all the way to school. Arriving after all the doors were closed, Laddie would sit outside the school, waiting patiently. Eventually, someone would open __3__ door and Laddie would slip in after him. Once inside, the dog would walk from room to room __4__ he found his master. Of course, Dads teacher would immediately demand that the dog __5__ (remove). Later, my father went off __6__ (join) his five brothers in World War Ⅱ, but Laddie continued to attend school, lying quietly each day __7__ the feet of Dads younger brother, Dick. Laddies attendance was __8__ consistent that Howard Junior High School awarded him an honorary diploma when Dick graduated. Now, thats one smart dog. Years later, when my dad was an adult, he met another dog: Casey. Casey went everywhere with Dad. In fact, I plained Dad spent __9__ time with Casey than he did with any of his human family members. Casey trusted my father unconditionally, __10__ sometimes Caseys blind faith in my dad got them both into trouble. 1.________ 2.________ 3.________ 4.________ 5.________ 6.________ 7.________ 8.________ 9.________ 10.________ 篇章導(dǎo)讀:本文是一篇記敘文。 3.a(chǎn) 考查冠詞。 5.(should) be removed 考查虛擬語(yǔ)氣。 7.a(chǎn)t 考查介詞?? so ... that ... more ... than ... After living near Madrid for a year as an au pair (以幫做家務(wù)事等換取食宿的人) three years ago, it was nice to __1__ this weekend.
