1、Module 3 The Violence of NatureModule 3 The Violence of Nature教學(xué)內(nèi)容:學(xué)習(xí)表達(dá)自然災(zāi)害的名詞,試著用已經(jīng)掌握的自然知識用英語對災(zāi)害的有關(guān)情況進(jìn)行描述。學(xué)習(xí)過去完成時(shí)的被動形式,進(jìn)一步區(qū)別主動和被動兩種語態(tài)。系統(tǒng)學(xué)習(xí)間接引語語法。培養(yǎng)給詞語下定義的語言技能。 教學(xué)目標(biāo): 1 語言知識、技能目標(biāo):掌握與自然災(zāi)害有關(guān)的詞匯、短語;能讀懂課文并理解語段之間的邏輯關(guān)系,從中獲取信息并回答有關(guān)問題;能深刻理解過去完成時(shí)的被動形式的含義及間接引語的用法;能聽懂教材配套材料并根據(jù)要求完成練習(xí)。 2 素質(zhì)教育目標(biāo):了解中外歷史上兩次危害極大的地震,

4、ming up1 Remind the students of the tsunami in 2004 with a picture and talk about it.T: As we know, at the end of 2004, a massive earthquake sent tsunami smashing into Indian Ocean coastline. Many heavily populated areas disasters from it.2 Ask the students to talk about it, such as Sri Lanka , Indo
5、nesia , Thailand , India, Malaysia and East Africa destroyed by the monster waves, causing millions of deaths. We human being saw the violence of natural disaster from it.3 Ask the students to talk about the pictures in the Introduction, page 21.Step 2 Lead-in (part 1, page 21)Get students to match
6、the words in the box with the definitions below. Then ask individuals to show their answers. A flood is a lot of water in an area which is usually dry.A hurricane is a very strong wind and storm.Lightning is the flash of light which occurs during a thunderstorm.A thunderstorm is a lot of rain fallin
7、g quickly, with loud noises and flashes of light.A tornado is a column of air that turns very quickly.T: Now lets pay attention to these sentences. Please find out the common characteristic in all of them.S: The sentences all give a definition of something.T: Very good. Each sentence gives a definit
8、ion of a word. Any other questions?S: The Attributive Clause appears in each sentence.T: Well done! That is right. When we give a definition of a word, the Attributive Clause is usually necessary and hopeful. Wed better learn to use the structure “A is B that/which” Now lets come to Part 3 on Page 2

Let the students match the words in the box with the sentences below and then check the sentences.The suggested answers to Part 3, Page 22: To bury means to place in the ground or tomb.A disaster is a terrible event.Feathers are something that you can see on a bird.To occur means to happen. If you wish, make notes on the board, especially of relevant vocabulary which may be new.Step 4 Words study (

12、kSurf the Internet for ways to avoid much damage from disasters.Make three sentences to define the words earthquake, volcanic eruption, and plane crash, using the Attributive Clause.The suggested answers: An earthquake is a sudden violent movement of the earths surface that can cause great damage to

Volcanic eruption is a sudden occurrence of steam and material that come out the volcano.A plane crash is a violent fall or breaking that a plane come across when flying.Step 8 Teaching reflections Most of the students can read the word list correctly and fluently. Encourage the quick students to help those who have difficulties in pronouncing.
