Teaching aims: Present the new words and sentence structures of this
Unit.Get Ss to understand and read the dialogue.
Teaching importance: The new sentence structure: “How many…are there? There are/is…”
Teaching difficulties: Get Ss to understand the single and the pl
2、ural nouns. And get them to use them in the new sentence structures correctly.
Teaching tools: flashcards for this Unit
Teaching procedure:
1.Introduce numbers
Present the flashcards for numbers one through ten. Hold up the flashcard for one. Say the word aloud and have the children repeat i
3、t after you.
Repeat the procedure for the other number flashcards.
Use the same procedure to present the flashcards for birds, duck, frog, and eggs.
2.Review
In this activity you will review plurals. On the board draw one duck,one snake, one tomato, and one mushroom.
Point to each dra
4、wing in turn and say, “What’s this?” Elicit the correct answer.
Now draw two more ducks, two more snakes, two more tomatoes, and two more mushrooms.
Point to each group of three objects in turn and say, “What are these?”
Have the children name each group. Make sure they say the final /s/
5、 clearly. Model each word and have the children repeat it after you.
Point to one of the groups of pictures. Ask the children, “Are these (ducks)?” Give some correct names and some incorrect names. Elicit the answers, “Yes, they are.” and “No, they aren’t. They are (snakes).”

Borrow some pencils, pens, and rulers from the children. Hold up three pencils. Say, “How many pencils are there?”
Have the children repeat the question after you.
Repeat the procedure using pens and rulers.
Now hold up three pencils again. Choose a child to ask the question, “How ma
7、ny pencils are there?”
Model the answer, “There are three.”
Now point to your drawing of three ducks. Say, “How many ducks are there?” Elicit the answer, “There are three.”
Repeat the procedure with your other pictures.

pictures:
Picture 1: “Where are Mocky and Lulu?”
“What do they see?”
Picture 2: “How many birds are there?”
Picture 3: “What does Mocky find?”

Picture 5: “What happens to Mocky?”
Picture 6: “How many eggs does Mocky find?”
Picture 7: “How many eggs are there now?”
Picture 8: “What does Mocky find Now?”
Picture 9: “What did the baby crocodile do?”

Say, “Now you will
10、 hear what the characters said.”
Have the children look at the pictures in their books as you play the tape.
Divide the class into two groups. One group will be Mocky, the other group will be Lulu.
Play the tape again. Have each group repeat the dialog for their character. Then have the groups change roles.
6.Set homework
Encourage the children to tell their families the story about Mocky and Lulu.
